Laser Tattoo Removal

What is it?

Laser tattoo removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a powerful laser to remove unwanted tattoo

Each pulse of energy penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink, shattering the ink particles, this breaks down the pigment in the skin, which are then cleared away by the body’s immune system over a period of time.

What to expect?

On the day you wear specially designed goggles to protect your eyes.

The light emitted targets the pigment in the tattoo.

The tattoo will appear to have a white frosting initially after the procedure, this is the clinical endpoint, this will disappear a short while after the procedure.

How many and how often?

Over a number of sessions the tattoo will become more and more faded.

The number of sessions needed depends on many factors- the age of the tattoo, the depth of the tattoo, the colours in the tattoo, the ingredients in the pigments, the health of your immune system, the area- the further away from the heart the harder it is to remove, how long you leave in between sessions- the longer you leave the fewer treatments you will require. Usually treatments are 6-8 weeks apart- the longer the better!

We can never guarantee 100% tattoo removal

Does it hurt?

Laser tattoo removal typically does involve some level of pain. That said, many say that it hurts less than they expected. It's a common belief that tattoo removal is excruciating, yet most patients say that the sensation of removal is comparable to having a tattoo applied. Sensitive areas will be more painful than less sensitive areas.

What to expect after?

Immediately the tattoo may have a frosting effect due to the steam under the skin. But this disappears soon after the treatment.

While it is uncommon to cause scarring from the laser tattoo removal sessions themselves, it is still possible. ...
