Microblading

Semi-permanent brow procedure creating hair stroke effect to enhance the brows and create a natural effect. A consultation is required. Initial treatment and six week follow-up is included.

What is it?

A semi permanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the brows. Pigment is etched into the skin in fine strokes resembling hair, using a hand tool and a blade formed of tiny needles in a row.

Not suitable for?

Not suitable for oily skin

How long does it last?

It lasts 12 to 18 months depending on the skin. A colour refresh is usually recommended every 12 to 18 months after initial treatment depending on skin types.

Does it hurt and how does it feel?

The process can feel uncomfortable for some, may make the eyes water slightly initially. A numbing cream is applied and for some it’s the sound of the blade that people feel is worse.

What to expect after the procedure?

After the initial procedure it takes 7 to 10 days for the brows to heal. During this time the brows go through a healing process. You will find initially they will appear dark, then they will start to crust, this crust should be left to heal and come away on its own. They can then feel like they are faded and it can take up to 4 weeks for the colour to reappear at the surface.

After-care

A healing balm is given and advised to use during the healing process 7 to 10 days. Aftercare is essential to the result of the brows. First day wipe (with cooled boiled water on clean cotton wool) blot (with a clean tissue) and apply balm (with clean cotton buds) every hour. Second day to 2 weeks must remain dry and apply the balm with fresh cotton buds every 3 to 4 hours. No shower, cleanser or brow make up to be used on them for the first 2 weeks.

Follow up

A six week follow-up will be booked. This will entail brows to be checked and strokes added where needed, before and after photos may be taken

Important info

An SPF must be worn at all times during sun exposure. Sun exposure can affect the colour and may cause the pigment to fade quickly.

The brows can still be waxed and tinted in between top ups but not until four weeks after the procedure
